Simple aging in ex-bourbon barrels helps to capture the unique microclimate of the vault, which Bowmore believes to be centered on the malt. As they put it, "A key note in this release is the Atlantic sea spray that washes against the iconic sea-facing wall of the No.1 Vaults." It reminds me of an old tale about barrels being rolled into the sea to be loaded onto boats, whereupon they sucked up some seawater in the process. Best served neat over ice. Size: 700ml ALC.
